Canada 150 Sculpture
Project Details
Client: City of Calgary Recreation
Project Brief: Design, Fabricate, Paint and Deliver a 3D Cutout “Canada 150” sculpture for cultural celebrations throughout Calgary.
Built from 30″ thick expanded polystyrene (aka Styrofoam), and coated with a specialized tough coating similar to truck bed liner, the sculpture stands 6 feet tall and 12 feet wide, and is sturdy enough to support the usual knocks and bumps from being fully accessible to the general public. Split in 2 pieces, the sculpture can be easily transported and installed by 2 people; critical when being toured around venues all over the city!
As part of Canada’s sesquicentennial celebrations, Kingsley Creative was contracted by The City of Calgary to design and build a large sculptural piece to be displayed at various events throughout 2017, such as the New Year’s and Canada Day celebrations, and Calgary Culture Days.
At the time of design, no Canadian city had developed a large format sign or sculpture, so this was the first of its kind that we are aware of to be produced for the Canada 150 celebration.
If you’re looking for a way to make a big impact at your next event, or want to show off your brand in a larger than life format, let us help you put something together! These sculptures are selfie magnets, and can be used over and over again!
